THE NAKED THEORY

Written by Sarah West

The naked theory

He's my therapist

I lay it out raw, like walking past the butchers The scent is prevalent, you can't escape it

So why hide it

I sit on the edge of my bed, I look to the ceiling, I look to the floor I can't see you, but the walls are listening

Oh lord, I am so flawed

1 keep tripping, I ain't high but sometimes I want to be

Take the edge off and all - just a thought

I spoke to God tonight

I told him about the week I had

Quite stressful and overwhelming

Laid it off my chest

It was getting too heavy but you are stronger than anything

The words are atmospheric, let it ascend to the heavens

Candle lit settings

Gotta keep trying

Gotta keep moving

Cause God is still working

So I gotta keep living

The naked theory is about exposing everything to God no matter how uncomfortable you feel. There’s nothing we can hide that he doesn’t know about so there’s no point in fronting. That’s the main ethos of the poem .

GOD'S LOVE

seasons come and go

but your love remains the same

one minute I can feel the heat of the sun on my brown skin, the

next I am cold, shivering in the rain

but your love remains the same

how can I resist this special gift?

pride gets in the way

selfish ambition leaves a bitter taste

welcome this love because it never fails

strip away this old paint on this heart of mine and polish me with a covering of white

This poem is about God’s love - it never changes no matter the situation. Being open to receive God’s love because he cares about every single detail of our lives. Making changes to strive for the betterment of ourselves and for other people.
